What can you expect from the U.M.A.? Magic, Fun and Fellowship. (Click here for U.M.A.'s Charter)
Our club is not only a social group sharing common interests, but also that we
serve a purpose for the Local Magic Community.
U.M.A. welcomes all Magician's of various skill levels, exploring a gamut of study interests, by sharing our diversity of experiences and backgrounds. Our club is an initiation for newcomers, a venue for pros to talk shop and a great communication conduit to spread the word and stay in touch with what’s happening magically in our area.
Little Business – More Magic. A great way to start every meeting … with Magic! We open every meeting with a PRESENTATION. We hope to keep club business to a minimum. Every meeting is dedicated to sharing Magic (Not Secrets).
A Normal Meeting consists of these elements.
- Open with Magic - a member will open with a presentation.
- Welcome guests and visitors and acknowledge new members.
- Hocus Pocus Focus - A chance to focus the group's attention on any magic interest.
Whether showing off the latest store bought trick , ask for a critique on your performance,
guide the group through a technique, highlight new material in magazines or other media,
or just demonstrate whatever you're working on.
- Trick of the Month - a quick raffle for a few novel tricks. (At least 6 people to play.)
- Short Break - Snacks welcome, soda vending machine available. (Accepts dollars.)
- What's Next - Officers announcements on upcoming events.
- Mix, Mingle & Magic - Second half of the meeting allows members to catch up with friends,
share opinions on new products, various media, and practice new moves for each other.
Benefits to Membership: Monthly Email Newsletters are to be sent no less than a week before the next scheduled meeting. Only Members will receive the monthly edition filled with photos, editorials and reminders of club activities. Members also
get direct emails for specific Magic events in the local area. Current members also receive a
Discount on Magic at LaRocks (MUST BE IN-STORE PURCHASES AND MUST SHOW YOUR CURRENT MEMBERSHIP CARD.)
Annual Events to look forward to every year. In January our Auction or Magic Swap Meet.
In June we host our Local Competition. August - our Friends and Family Night kicks off our Mid-year Membership Drive with a presentation by our members. September - our Festival in the Park Magicians' Stage. November - our Creativity Challenge. Then add a few themed meetings and we host a few lecturers each year. There are many benefits to membership.
